JUPITER, THE BRINGER OF JOY

Preliminar Study | Watercolor and gold leaf on paper. 24 x 34 cm.

New piece from The Planets series inspired by the magnificent music of Gustav Holst! 🎶

Jupiter, the god of joy, takes center stage in this golden celebration. 🎨 In this work, I explore how joy (that internal feeling of well-being and satisfaction) is manifested and amplified through celebration (the visible, shared expression).

The use of watercolor and gold leaf 🌙 over the dark blue sky aims to capture that visual rhythm and the energy of shared happiness. Lots of life and movement in a horizontal format that invites you to the party! 🎉

What feeling does this celebration of Jupiter convey to you? Let me know in the comments! 👇

The Planets series is a saga of works inspired by the musical works of Gustav Holst. In the case of Jupiter, the Bringer of Joy, the god occupies the center of the scene and the movement of the composition. The landscape format allows for the representation of multiple figures, all of whom display a celebratory attitude. Joy is linked to celebration, as it is the outward expression of feelings of well-being, satisfaction, and intense happiness. Joy and celebration form a conceptual pair in which one is the representation of the other: celebration is visible, while joy is an inner, invisible feeling. The composition is balanced through visual rhythms of the bodies and poses, in which the golden hues of the sky form an integral part, reinforcing that sense of visual rhythm that also aims to refer to the inner feelings of the characters.
